Crushed grain shelf life

As Mike said, I would not want to mill the whole bag unless I knew I was going to use it up soon.
Whole grain keeps pretty well for log term storage. Millled grain, not so much.
 
It will definitely be used up within a month. So in the case it sounds like I'm good to buy in a #50 sack

If it's been in a sealed container or bag and kept in a cool, dry, dark place, your malt is probably fine.

Generally speaking, whole grain will oxidize over time. Crushed grain has greater exposure to air and will oxidize at a faster rate. Exposure to light, heat, and air accelerates the process.
