During a sale a month or two ago, I purchased an irish red kit and a sierra Nevada pale ale clone kit, both extract + steeping grains. I have similar beers in the pipeline currently and I'd like to use these ingredients plus some extra hops to make a unique IIPA.

I'm mainly asking for critiques on the hop schedule, since I know I won't be using these grains for any other recipes since they are already premixed.

Would you change the hop schedule around? Is this fine, as is?

I have a pound of each of the follow that I can use: Columbus, Cascade, Centennial Warrior, Nugget

This is all my preference of doing things and my experiences so take it FWIW.

You have 3 bittering charges in there with the fwh,60, and 45 min additions. I would simplify it and either split between fwh and 60 or just choose one and adjust your ammounts to get the IBUs you want. As for bittering hops, again you have three. As I understand it warrior is quite mild compared to chinook (I generally use Bravo, CTZ, or centennial to bitter my IPAs) so if you're looking to tame down the chinook by cutting the bittering charge with warrior that would be ok but you don't need the nugget.

I like either a 10 or 15 minute flavor addition but you probably won't notice the difference of having both in there as supposed to a bigger single addition at either 10 or 15 minutes other than IBUs. Personally, I would do a .25-.5 oz each centennial, cascade, and Columbus at 15. Then, because I love whirlpool hops, add 1-2 ounce each of the same hops for a 15-20 hop stand.

This is a pretty big beer with a lot of specialty grains so I'd really go for it on the dry hopping as well. Maybe dry hop with what you have for 7 days then hit it again for a couple more with a smaller amount of the same hops.

I just did a 1.086 og IIPA and got great results with centennial, Columbus, and cascade ( a little simcoe too in the FO and first dry hop). 5 oz at FO and I dry hopped with 5 oz first for 5 days then 2 oz in the keg. Turned out amazing.

Cheers,
JT
