So I'm brewing a cream ale this weekend and I'm planning on throwing some rice hulls in for good measure. My lhbs just lowered the gap on their mill and my last batch, a pale ale, got stuck on the last half gallon or so. I've never used rice hulls before so I have no idea how much to add.
Grain bill is
7lbs 6-row
2lbs flaked corn
1lb flaked rice

Going fora 90 min mash

Will a couple handfuls do the trick?

Yes, I have small hands and use about 4 handfuls for a 10 gallon batch. It's just a judgement call- you want some space in there to make lautering easier.

Thanks yoop!

I went with two big pawfulls and still got stuck about halfway through my sparge. It came unstuck pretty easily though and everything else went great. I think I might just need to slow down my sparge a bit. I have been going full throttle without issue until my last two batches.
