You have to admit that before you heard of the Easy All Stars version you wouldn't have conceived a reggae version of that song or the album was even possible.

That's my big thing with Dub Side and Radiodread. I heard about them and just didn't believe it could be done without being cheesy at best. Whether or not people consider them better, they're really well thought out and executed. Amazing tributes to the original works.

And if I can appreciate this:eek:

First time I heard this I thought it was a sin to copy such a classic, but it's not a copy it's a different interpretation(IMHO)

I can appreciate (almost) anything;)

@ niquejim
And that is what is required of a good cover then. :mug: Expand the concept. Bring something new to the story.

Some straight cover are somewhat better due to ability or new technologies
Such as
Eric Clapton- Crossroads////Robert Johnson- Crossroads

Sometimes they are just seeing something others don't see in a song

The reggae Floyd is actually not bad and I wish I had heard it before Rick Wright died. I may have listened the first time with an open mind

I was actually listening to Leadbelly tonight. Where would Zeppelin been without music like his( and I love Zeppelin)

Anything by Richard Cheese is really funny!

I really like The lost Fingers too:

Not sure how many I would vote better but at least this provided some interesting listening this morning at work.

not better than the original, of course, but an interesting spin on it.

I won't go so far as to say it's better, but I can't help but giggle anytime I hear RUN DMC cover "Walk This Way"....

Anybody's cover of a Dylan song is better than Dylan's rendition. Fantastic songwriter...AWFUL singer.

Dave Matthews does a great job with "Long Black Veil." Technically, it's a folk tune, but Johnny Cash popularized it slightly. This isn't the best video, and I've heard the band do a better rendition, but it's the best that YouTube had to offer.

Ugh. Really? My SWMBO who thinks Big Eyed Fish is kickass thinks that that version is garbage compared to The Band's. Better than Johnny Cash's cover as well.

Stunned this one hasn't been mentioned. Hell, even Ray Davies liked Van Halen's version of "You really got me" better.

Plan A:
