I crunched the numbers in beersmith and here is what I got, based on 5 gallons of wort:

The grain bill is as follows:
Target Gravity - 17 Plato (Specific Gravity 1.070)
Liquor to Grist Ratio - 2.8

Cargill Special Pale -90% 12.89 lb
Cargill Caramel 40 - 4% 8.90 lb
Crisp Dextrine Malt - 2.5% 5.60 oz
Flaked Oats - 2.5% 5.60 oz
Acidulated Malt - 1% 2.20 oz

Best of luck to those that are brewing!

Almost 200 views and 0 responses. Oh well. In case anybody is following, I made an American brown ale loosely following Jamil's dirty water brown recipe. I did this for two reasons:

1. it makes a great beer that I like to drink, and it has been a beer I have been meaning to brew for a while. And to be honest, I am giving up 2 bottles to the competition out of 5 gallons, it has to be a recipe I want to drink more than anything.

2. Out of all the breweries in the RVA, this recipe is not well represented. Sure, there is Legend brown, but this beer is nothing like that beer. So, it should be a good niche beer for the contest (much better I feel than another IPA or APA).
