Corny Keg Gas Dip Tube

They only need to be long enough to reliably hold onto the little O-ring.
I've cut all mine down to ~1/2"...

Just out of curiosity, why would you need to shorten a 1" long gas in tube?
 
They're not all 1". Within my set of 16 kegs I've found some that were much longer, verging on 2" long.

That can be a problem when you're doing closed CO2-push transfers and can't see how full the keg is any more.
After a couple of slight over-fills that reached the gas dip tubes I said "eff it" and when a keg kicked I cut its gas tube. All 16 have been cut.

I've since gone to using a scale when filling kegs. Much more precise.
If I had done that from the jump there's a chance I'd have never cut the tubes, but there's zero harm in cutting them, and it does increase the margins...

I use my cope pipe cutter, easy peasy to cut. I collapse the cut slide to make it easy to turn with a screwdriver in the cutter.
