What size is the 16 point star post on the corny keg? I want to get a wrench to get it off, but the two i have ordered have been to big.

I'll reply to my own thread here - i think i found it. Just going to buy a 12-point socket set i think

A 7/8" 12 point socket/wrench will fit. My combination wrench is 12 point on the closed end side and it works well. Otherwise a 12 point socket works (might need a deep well).
You will need a deep well socket to work.
You must have one of these. It will remove/tighten both the small (11/16) and large (7/8) 6-point and 12-point posts. $10 on Amazon. I have been using the flat version of this for over 10 yrs. This offset version would be slightly better I think.

damn i still use channel locks.....just got to give a turn to get it lose, comes off by hand then....reverse for tightening
and i hope this isn't a pin lock keg! definatly plier time for them!

There is a deep socket specifically made for pin lock posts that have notches cut for the pins.
LOL, ok cap...i'm just still glad i've never been let down with a pair of pliers. works on 12 point, hex, pin lock, ball lock...11/16, 7/8...

I found a 12-point deep socket at Home Depot for about $8. It was the bigger 1/2" socket size, so you'd need the proper ratchet or an adapter.
It also fits the 6-point beer posts on the corny kegs I have, which is nice.
+1 to this. I got both size "deep" sockets at the big box hardware store. I bet harbor freight is cheaper.

Trust me i tried pliers. I think this used keg had soda in it and they are glued on. Plus i am a scrawny 150lbs. I don't have much ass to put behind those pliers LOL
Purchased that wrench last night.
i'm only 180....and i assure you it's not all muscle! but i'm all for the right tool for the right job! (and possibly the use of a persuader!
)
