I have a 5 gallon cooler and am thinking that it's time to step up to 10 gallons. I'd rather not buy a new bottom or parts for a braid at the moment, so I'm thinking I can just swap the false bottom from the 5 into the 10. The false bottom has a diameter of 9 inches (3 inches less than one made for a 10 gal.), is there any reason why this won't work? I'm guessing that I might lose an small amount of liquor, which is fine, but will the fact that the false bottom doesn't cover the entire bottom of the 10 gal. cooler cause any serious problems? I'm batch sparging, by the way.
