I plan on entering my first AHA & BJCP competition with a Rye Saison I did about 2 months ago. I have not entered a competition before and I'm looking for input on which subcategory it belongs in. Recipe is similar to this one.

I changed up the hops, used honey instead of sugar and wlp072 (instead of 3711), but it is still 25% Rye malt.
So, is that enough to make it a 16E, belgian specialty ale or is it a 16C -Saison?

Read the guidelines for saison and belgian specialty. If you feel like the rye character comes across as the moderate spicey-ness associated with saison then enter it there, other wise enter in 16E. If you say something is specialty for reason X....that X should be apparent in the taste.
