I purchased a cheap 8 quart stainless steel pot today at a discount store for 15$. The pot steel seems really thin - is it going to ok for boiling some malt extract or is it going to scorch cause the metal is too thin?

As long as you completely dissolve your extract in the water you shouldn't have a problem.

I jsut got a thin stainless brew pot too, but Im going all grain with it so I'm assuming it will be fine.

Well I just make canned hopped extract kits - but i have the pot for boiling the additional malt extract and any extra hops i decide to add. Just don't wanna burn the malt on the bottom of the pot

Prior to adding the malt extract, bring it to a boil. Then, remove the pot from the heat and stir in the extract. Next, reapply heat and boil. This nearly eliminates the risk of burning the extract.
