So one of the most recent public domain hops released is Cashmere, it's a daughter of Cascade and sounds like an awesome hop for the Eastern/Midwestern US.
Aroma notes on Cashmere: Mild herbal aroma with strong melon, lemon, lime and slightly spicy notes.

Recap: Smells awesome and hopefully as easy to grow as Cascade.
This is the only place I've seen plants available:

Minimum order is 30 plants, delivered in June 2015, $5 per plant.
The Catch: they have to be picked up at a greenhouse outside of Syracuse, NY
Anybody live in central NY state and want to help pull off a group buy? Or just buy them yourself and sell them on Ebay for $10 each and send me the link
I get the impression that this is a hot hop and there won't be rhizomes widely available for another year or two.
