So I'm brewing my second batch, an AHS extract kit for a Double Chocolate Stout. When I bottle, I want there to be only moderate carbonation, a la Guinness. The instructions say to use 4.5 oz of the supplied priming sugar for 5 gl of brew. Should I use less? If so, how much less? Thanks!! :mug:

Here is what I would do:

1. Use this: http://hbd.org/cgi-bin/recipator/recipator/carbonation.html to determine (by weight) how much you want to use (I would guess around 2.5 oz for 5gallons at 70F...1.75 volumes).
2. Split the 4.5oz pack so that you can get 2.5oz. I would do this by measuring the volume and using a little over half the amount their. Unless you have a scale then I would weigh it out.

Hope this helps.
