Greetings homebrewtalk! I have long browsed these forums in preparation for my first brew but I have a total beginner's question:

I just bought a brewing starter kit and a couple of brew house kits, but I can't figure out how to open the spout on the bag of pre-made mash. I see no instructions of any kind on the cap, but I know I'm missing something. Thanks :mug:

I've used 4 of these kits now and with the first one, when the cap finally did pop off I was splashed with a fair amount of wort from the jarring.
With the next three I pulled the bag out of the box and snipped a corner off the bag and poured it in the bucket that way. I've read some suggestions on here not to do that as the box is much easier to handle and you might mishandle the bag. Whichever way you do it just be careful and sanitary.

Good luck.

The yellow plastic cap on the Brewhouse beer kits are not threaded, so they won't unscrew. They are pull-off caps but are very hard to pull off.

I got mine open by using a vise-grip (a pair of pliers would also work) and while supporting the area near the cap, open it as if you were opening a beer with a bottle opener (tilt back). You might have to tilt back and forth a few times to loosen the cap, as it is on very, very tight.
