They are not too accurate, the wrong scale or range, prone to have clinging bubble issues, huge scale increments.
 
I would not use that type. If you have it on hand, I would presume that it has already been used to check antifreeze concentrations in you car's radiator. And if that is the case, I would not want to risk contaminating the beer.
If you do not already have this on hand, then my guess is that the cost of that one versus one made for brewing might be comparable, in which case I would go with the one made for brewing.
