Anybody knows me knows that I hate spending money unnecessarily. But it's time. I need a new truck. The truck I have now is fine (a 2004 Silverado Z71 4WD) but it has nearly 80,000 miles and I'm ready for a new one.
The problem is- there isn't really one truck that I want! I've narrowed my choices down to a new Silverado Z71 or a Toyota Tundra Double Cab. The Toyota is cheaper, and I'm leaning that way. I didn't like the Dodge or the Ford and I didn't like the dealers or salesmen either.
I like the dealerships for both the Toyota and Chevy, and both are almost exactly equipped except that the Toyota has 18" tires. The Chevy is about $1000 more, even with the rebates, incentives, "retention program", etc. The gas mileage is about the same, and the options are a wee bit nicer in the Toyota.
But-------------whoa. The cost! I bought a HOUSE for less, not that many years ago. My checkbook hurts just thinking about it. But I think we'll have a new truck in a couple of days.
