Howdy folks. My parents got me a beer kit for Christmas which was a thoughtful present - a pumpkin spice beer. The main ingredient is two 3.3 lb Briess Munich LME canisters. I'm not a big fan of spiced beers so I'm wondering while other styles lend themselves to munich LME? Is it interchangeable with good ol' light extract? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Munich malt is awesome. It's not the same as light extract, but you could substitute. A hoppy beer made with Munich isn't a traditional IPA, but will taste very good, IMO.

Munich lagers are an obvious choice, but you should stay away from lager yeast your first time. Or make a Munich Dunkel recipe with ale yeast.

Id look at Munich lager recipes or perhaps a Vienna lager and consider using a california common yeast like wyeast 2112.

Munich malt is a great replacement for pale malt.

Munich gives a more malty flavor. It really depends what balance you want.
