I was wondering, is there any reason i shouldn't put a bottling bucket spigot on my fermenter so that i can draw off small amounts to take hydrometer readings? Or is there a better/ more sanitary way to get small amounts for a sample?

thanks,

That's what I do and I've never had a problem with infections. I think it would be safer as you're not disturbing the CO2 layer at all.

Make sure you put it high enough that it's above the trub.
