Blow Off Tube

So I have a batch in mind that sounds like it will need a blow off tube. My primary fermenter that I will have available for this brew is a plastic air tight 5 gallon bucket with a half inch grommet on the top to fit an airlock into. Could I use this bucket and run a blow off tube from the half in grommet?

yes... just check the tube frequently. If it gets clogged it could make quite a mess

Thanks any recommendations on how ling the hose needs to be? Is shorter better?

you need to have the hose go into jar of water (or better yet, a sanitizer like starsan) So how ever long it needs to be to reach the liquid.

Sure, if you're willing to use that much vodka. Starsan is way cheaper.

vodka also evaporates quickly. Just use water it will be fine. Save vodka for drinking
