So I just finished interviewing for a job I've been very interested in for quite a while. My good buddy works for the company, so he recruited me for the position. I interviewed with the EVP of the department, as well as another EVP from a closely related department. My buddy convened with them after the interview and he just called to tell me that I made a very positive impression. He expects that I'll get a call with an offer within 24 hours. They just have to do their due diligence with background and credit checks.

At the exact same time as the interview my girlfriend was under the knife for an elective surgery. Nothing to worry about, but still the usual thoughts in your head when someone is having an operation. I also just got a text from her that she's headed home and everything went well. So it looks like this has been a pretty good day so far. Crazy and exciting, but good.

They made me an initial offer and we talked compensation a little. Nothing official until they finish all the background and credit checks. The company provides cash services to casinos, so these checks are pretty comprehensive and might take a week or so. But I'm not worried about them digging anything up, so it's just a matter of waiting for them to finish, then I'll receive an official offer. I was happy with the proposed salary and benefits, so im not going to haggle with them.

The gf is doing great. She had a follow up with the surgeon yesterday and was given instructions to start doing a few little things(showering, getting up/down, grabbing food and water) herself, so she's not 100% dependent anymore. Her pain level is not too bad, but the swelling is pretty extreme at this point so she still needs to be diligent about taking her meds on schedule.

Sounds good on all fronts. Never worked for a casino. All of them in Las Vegas (back in the 90s) were IBM shops and I was doing HP and Sun.

Yeah I'm pretty excited to get started. It's not actually a casino that I'll work for. The company caters to casinos and their patrons, but it's much more closely related to the financial industry and providing financial services to gamers(cash access, credit/markers) than gaming persay.
