Biab or partial mash 1 gal instead of a starter?

I was thinking instead of making a starter, I could brew a gallon batch either Biab or partial mash and let that reach full krausen then I'd only need to mash and sparge for 4 gallons. I'm talking about liquid yeast, in this case.

Mostly because I want to try and make some high gravity beers, but all I have is a 5gal mash tun.

Any advice or thoughts?

I see no reason it wouldn't work... But it does seem like it would be a LOT more work...

I think it depends on the actual gravity you're going for as well as the strain of yeast you're using.
