I want to add some vanilla beans to my latest ipa but everywhere seems super expensive. Any tips on the best place to get them?? Thanks!

They skyrocketed in price this year. I can't recall exactly why, but it was probably weather related.

I usually buy from amazon, since they have a variety of grades and counts available. Not sure if that's the cheapest option, though.

My understanding is that there is currently a vanilla bean shortage which has caused the price to go up.

I've heard Penzeys is pretty popular and has a store in Philadelphia. It's not really cheap though at almost $20 for 3 beans which seems to be the going rate.

Holy cow! The 3 pack from morebeer that I bought a while ago for about $6 is now $18. How long do they last unopened?

Pricing. At our winery I buy flavoring and others. In 2015 we paid $28.00 for a gallon of vanilla extract 2 fold. Last time I bought 1 gallon, about a month ago, it was $384.00 There was a crop failure of the vanilla orchid in Madagascar and all places have been selling high as there is only so much to go around.
