Looking for recommendations on brands or links to suppliers that you would recommend for a 10 gallon SS pot. I'm sure there is a thread with the same request, can't seem to find it.

Also looking for recommendations which you prefer - pots with the thermometers and valves built in or not built in.

Thanks for all the great advice - first batch is currently on day nine of primary fermenting. I used one of those standard blue kettles with the white specs on the surface. However, it is sure to rust one of these days. Looking to upgrade!

cheers,
Oscar

1. Polarware kettle would be my choice. http://www.williamsbrewing.com/42_QUART_BREW_POT_WITH_1_2_V_P1904C50.cfm
These kettles are not cheap, as you can see, but they are of high quality and will likely last longer than you do.

2. I would get one with a welded in valve port and a welded in thermometer port just as the link for the Polarware kettle shows.

3. I would also suggest buying the 60 qt kettle instead of the 42 qt version if your budget will permit. http://www.williamsbrewing.com/60_QUART_BREW_POT_WITH_SIGHTG_P2555C50.cfm
You are not likely to out grow the 60 qt kettle anytime soon.

I would go with the 10 gallon Blichmann Boilermaker. It is awesome. Then you could use a plate chiller too which is also awesome. It has a sight glass and built in thermometer. It's nice to know the temp and nice to know the volume of wort.

If you have the budget, go for built in unless you want to DIY. If you want to DIY, look for Update International as I've used several of those pots for beer and cooking in the past and they are well made. I believe they are the same as several ones sold under other names like "Megapot", etc.

Polar Ware are good and solidly built. I am selling mine as I am getting a Blichmann for Christmas. When you factor in an adjustable thermometer, sight glass, valve etc, a Blichmann is not all that much more than getting a nice solid 10 gallon pot and buying the fittings yourself.
