Hi
I'm planning on making the 1832 Truman XXXX Mild from Ron Patterson's book The Home Brewer's Guide to Vintage Beer.
It's basically a smash barleywine,Mild malt and EKG.
Because of time constraints I won't have time to make a starter with the WLP099 I have.
Some i'm wondering what the best dry yeast for a beer with a OG of 1.117?
My opinions are limited in my LHBS.US-05,S-04,Danstar Nottingham or Mangrove Jack’s M36 Liberty Bell.
The FG that the WLP099 was supposed to give me is 1.025 giving ABV of 12.3%

I'd default to S04. If you are going to use two packs anyway you might want S04 / US05, or S04 / Nottingham, or S04 / M36. You want something that attenuates well and has some character but not too much, so going for two yeasts actually makes some sense. I just brewed a double brown stout and used S04 and M44 for that. A combo of a mellow British yeast (S04) and a neutral American yeast descended from British yeast is fairly sound.
