Started my starter Sat. night. It was some old, washed WLP001 that had been there for a few months. I wasn't sure how viable it was, so I made a 1.5L starter. Pitched it about 18 hours later in my IPA (1 PM Sunday). Woke up Monday morning to this beautiful mess in my fermentation chamber (at about 66F)

not sure why it won't show up. lemme check the flickr link.

got it. flickr doesn't make it easy to get the link to the PICTURE itself.

That is nice. I suggest getting 2.5 gallon bucket to use as your 'blowoff' bucket. I have 2 5 gallon carboys bubbling away in there now and have never overflowed it.

5 gallon batch in a "5 gallon" carboy. I know I need to get a 6.5 gallon carboy, but haven't yet.
