This question is for home brewers in Austin, TX. I just moved to Austin and would like to know if the city's tap water is good for home brewing. Any ideas or comments?? if not what water available in the stores do you recommend? Thanks...

Never used it myself, I've always just used spring water from the store. I know a guy that does though, and his brews are good too.

I live out in Bee Cave and have LCRA water. I run it through an RV filter before using it and my beers taste pretty darn good.

HEB stores have that Glacier water dispenser that sells filtered, UV'd, RO water for 35 cents a gallon or $1.75 for 5 gallons. I use this for my Starsan jug, but if my water was crap for beer, this is what I would use and then treat it to match a water profile for the beer I was brewing.
