I'm looking at doing a Red Rocket Clone (Jamil's recipe)
Beersmith is telling me that I need 3 packages of liquid yeast with a starter or 9 without. Am I doing something wrong here?

---NOTES------------------------------------

For an ale BS2 shows .53g starter for 2 packs liquid yeast for a 1.070 beer. Assuming 1 month old yeast.

OR 1.1gal starter w/ only 1 package of yeast.

If you are brewing a lager obviously much more is needed.

I'm new to all grain but that seems like a lot for a 5 gal batch.

I figured it out. Beersmith defaulted a February date for the yeast. If I change it to July date then I only need one packet and a 4qt starter.

Ok I was going to use 1 gal of post boil top up water. I can just use the 1 gal starter as the top up correct?
