If you have a shut off valve that also has a check valve in it does it only allow gas to flow in one direction? My gas distributor has a barb on the end and I want to replace it with a MFL connection. I bought one of these: http://www.midwestsupplies.com/threaded-shutoff-valve.html

I intend to push gas into the MFL end and out through to the threaded one. It hasn't arrived yet so I haven't tested it. Think it'll work?

Or would I need something that does't have a check valve like this: http://www.midwestsupplies.com/1-4-mfl-to-1-4-mpt.html

Thanks!

The whole point of a check valve is for "anti-backflow" purposes, so you're not going to have much success plumbing such a valve backwards from its intended flow direction...

Cheers!
