I used to drink a bit of this when I lived downtown in Chicago. My brother gave me clonebrews and I found this recipe. What do you guys think?
12oz 55L british crystal malt
2oz roasted barley
2oz peat smoked malt
Steep in 1/2 gal 150 deg water, sparge with 1/2 gal 150 deg water bring to 1.5 gal and start to boil
3.3 lb John Bull light malt syrup
1.75 lb M&F light dme
1/2 lb corn sugar
4 oz cane sugar
1oz east kent [email protected] aa
boil for 45 min
1 oz EKG's
1 tsp irish moss
boil 13 min
1/2 oz EKG's
1/2 oz fuggles
boil 2 min
use Wyeast 1728 Scottish ale yeast or Wyeast 1084 Irish ale yeast
Second part of the question becomes what would be a good follow up so I can reuse the yeast cake? Keep in mind I am just moving from kits to recipes.
Thanks,
MPW
