Aerating with O2, filter?

For those of you who aerate with oxygen, do you use a filter in line between the tank and the diffuser?
 
I do, because it came with the O2 injection setup I bought.

The filter is a couple of years old, no clogging, so maybe that's proof it's unnecessary.
 
At least 50 batches aerated using those bernzomatic oxygen canisters, with no in-line filter & no crook flavours from the resulting beer.
 
I do just for peace of mind. Filters are only couple bucks and if I've already spent the time to make things as sanitary as possible, it's just cheap insurance. Necessary? Probably not. Personally I would rather not chance it.
