I just got through brewing a cream ale yesterday. I calculated all of the measurements and scaled it back from a 5g to a 3g batch. I tried the BIAB technique for the first time expecting around 70% eff. That would have hit the numbers on the head. Well I ended up getting 78-79% which according to brewtarget will leave my brew way low on the IBU's... just a thought here but is it entirely crazy to think that I could calculate what I need, boil just hops and a small amount of water to extract the oils and pour that into my fermenter??

I've heard of people using a hop tea, but I've just added a few drops of isomerized alpha acid to make up for a lack of bitterness. You can order it off quite a few different websites. A little goes a long way.

I had a Belgian Trappist style where I completely missed my numbers and the IBUs were much lower than planned. I racked to secondary and added a couple tablespoons. After a month or so the beer was just about perfect.
