Did up an ESB today (recipe is in the DB on this site). Fly sparged for the first time and was surprised how much it increased my efficiency. Here's some brew porn detailing the day's proceedings and my most modest setup.
Made my starter yesterday with the Wyeast smack pack. It was given about 24 hours to do its thing before I pitched it.
Heated the strike water in my smaller kettle. I was looking for a taget temp of 152 F and at first buggered up my volume calcs...
.... once I realized my mistake I hit the temp rather quickly.
Mashed that dirty dog for a little over an hour and then went ahead with the Vorlauf till she cleared up.
