I stupidly bought this from NB earlier tonight planning to make starters from now on. Now I've realized it's pretty much too small for anything. What's the point of a 500ml flask?

Is a 2000ml flask big enough for a 2l starter? Or will I need extra space?

2000ml is 2l. That is the flask I use for my starters and have not had a problem yet.

And when all the glasses are dirty you can drink out of it, and look real smart!!

Haha!

Yeah I was thinking it's useless for starters from wyeast smack packs or white labs vials. But harvesting yeast from bottles or growing from a very small population (slants?) it is a good starting step? Might as well keep it then. Although I'm only 5 extract batches into my new obsession so I'm a little aways from that yet.

I too have a 500ml but also have a 1L. I also just ordered a 4L. I plan to use them when I am creating a starter from frozen yeast vials. Figure since the bottles for the frozen yeast are only 60ml, a 500ml starter to begin with will work well.
