3/8 vs 1/2 dia wort chiller

Other than using more water, Is there that much of a difference in the length of time it takes to cool a batch? I'm looking to buy a 50' chiller and I see them at 3/8 and 1/2 diameter.
 
I'm assuming you are refering to an Immersion Chiller, if so go with 1/2

If it is a counter flow chiller then a 3/8 would be better
