2nd batch Experiment during fermentation

Trying something new.

I've got a Red Ale that is nearly done in fermentation.
I call it Red inBed V2.
Too hoppy (38 IBU) based on Red in Bed V1
So...

I'm going to add this second batch to the fermenter today.
1gallon water total (it'll boil off some, yes)

Grain bill
1 lb 2 row
2 oz smoked malted
No hops at all

Mash
. 5 gallon at 156F 15 min
Opps boiled.. cooled quick by setting kettle in sink with cool water running
Brought it down to 158F in about 30 seconds
Resume at 156F for 30 min more.

(I'm here now with 20 min to go.)

Then I'll Sparge
.5 gallon at 157F
Rest 5 min (just something I do)

Then Boil
10 min?
No hops... So no real reason for a long boil... right?

Thoughts?
 
I'm the guy that comments on his own post.. LOL

I'll boil to the Protein Break and then say another 5 min (just for fun.)
Still interested in comments... Even if they are all just, "What a colossal waste of time!" :)
