12 Gal carboy?

For cider fermentation, are there any rational reasons why to buy a 12 gal Pyrex glass carboy instead of two (non Pyrex) 6 gal carboys?

A single 12 gallon batch will probably be more consistent in ingredients than two 6 gallon batches, where you may have slightly more or less of an ingredient.

A 12 gallon batch will finish at one time, two 6 gallon batches may finish at different times.

Not sure of the cost of a 12 gallon carboy, but around here, 6 gallon carboys are $35 plus tax at my LHBS so $70 + for the 12 gallon equavilant.

Bottling from a 12 gallon carboy could be a *****, unless you have a 14 gallon bottling bucket.

just keep in mind that a 12 gallon carboy will weigh about 100 pounds when full

All those openings, it looks like a cow gone wrong. And the $175 makes it cost prohibitive for me.

You could get a 15 gallon glass demi-john from midwest for $60. They also come with those baskets for moving them.

Or get one of these. homebrewheaven 11 gallon plastic carboy. I have 4 and they work great.
