Hello, got a quick question for everyone. I recently did a 3.5 liter starter of Wyeast Ringwood in hopes to use this starter for multiple beers. I brew Parti-Gyle Style but havent tried this approach yet with yeast. My plan is to brew a 1.070 5 gallon batch and than a 3 gallon 1.050 batch. My question is can I just decant the spent wort off and treat the yeast cake the same as if I washed my yeast and was re-pitching from a slurry?

According to Mr. Malty I would need:

291ml or 10oz of slurry for the 5 gallon batch (253 billion)
125ml or 4oz of slurry for the 3 gallon batch (109 billion)

yeastcalc indicates I have roughly 425 billion cells.

Any thoughts???

Certainly, you can do this. I just did it last week. Just a thought, you might want to not decant off all the starter wort and you will be able to judge your volume of slurry better. But the heaviest flocs will be in the bottom portion of the flask as soon as you stop swirling so I would pitch that on the higher OG.
