This is my mild mannered Ale 10 days after brewing.

It's mild.

It's supposed to be drank young. It's part of the style.
I guess it will probably taste a little different in a few days to a week.
This is the first time I've drank it under 14 days.

I brewed it because I was out of HB.

Poor olllllo chose a dry patch to visit me.

Love it, Orfy! The MMA has been on my "to-brew" for FAR too long now... I keep running out of Hobgoblin and brewing it instead!!! :D
 
Gonna have to add this to my To Brew List. It'll help stock the kegerator once it's built. Anymore of these drink fast recipes? like maybe 3 more? exluding wheats/hefes
 
Darnit Orphy - first I'm working and that looks really good. Second - I am off to the LHBS tomorrow and had made up my mind to do your Hobgoblin and now I'm thinking this....I might have to do both.

I'm doing 10 gallons of a mild tonight.

Grains are crushed and we're ready to go:


12.00 lb Pale Malt (2 Row) US (2.0 SRM)
0.50 lb Aromatic Malt (26.0 SRM)
1.00 lb Caramel/Crystal Malt (40.0 SRM)
1.00 lb Caramel/Crystal Malt (60.0 SRM)
0.20 lb Chocolate Malt (350.0 SRM)
2.00 oz Fuggles [4.00%] (75 min) (First Wort Hop)
1.00 oz EKG [5.50%] (15 min)


I've a hankering for a good malty session beer.
 
How on earth does that beer have such a creamy looking head? I would have sworn it was beergas. I debated asking because I thought it was obvious. Does the high pressure do that? Is it just because it's all grain? My first all grain is really low on carbonation being an ordinary bitter so it's good but it doesn't form a head at all really. Maybe the 3 following it will be more like that but all of my extract brews have large bubbles in the head. I want that.
 
To me that looks like a low carbonation level, served on high pressure. It is the same theory as bar gas serving, just done with all CO2. I could be wrong though... maybe Orfy will fill us in later today.
