    First Marzen

Haven’t really brewed for a good 6 months but I’m trying to get a recipe for a good Marzen. I plan to do a decoction, and have a 3 vessel AG set up with 2 whirlpool pumps and a counterflow chiller. I have a pretty good idea of the steps involved ( I’ve done a couple pilsners already) as far as...

    Diacetyl Rest: High Temperatures

Dear HBT community, This is my first post and of course it is a problem related to brewing! And I can't...

    Marzen with Sterling hops

I'm trying my first Marzen brew today and realized I didn't have enough of the Hallertau hops I was intending to use. Basically I have almost enough for the initial addition but nothing for the final addition. I know Saaz is a commonly used variety with Marzen recipes and while I don't have that...

    Hops for Märzen?

I have a good recipe for old Märzen which uses Saaz hops, but I think my IBU is a tad low (8-ish). I was thinking of maybe trying Hallertauer or Tettnanger this Christmas. Thoughts & opinions?
