Hop Extract

I tried searching on here with little luck. Farmhousebrewingsupply has specific hop extract available. For 5ml of say Citra or El Dorado it is about $3. Has anyone used this for a late addition or even dry hop? If you look up Citra is has 1.5-3ml/100g oil concentration. So it would take between 333g(11.7oz)-160g(5.6oz) of hops to get 5ml of oil. At $2/oz, that's $10-20 worth of hop oil for $3. Seems like it could be a cheap way to get flavoring.

I'd be worried about accuracy with it.

It's not 5ml of oil. It's essentially hops without the vegetation.

CO2 hop extract is the pure resin extract of hops containing alpha acids, beta acids and hop oils.

It's likely not more than an ounce worth of hops in that 5ml.

I use it quite often for general bittering purposes, but I have to admit that I'm skeptical when it comes to using it for flavor or aroma. Still, you could give it a try and tell us what you find!

Not quite sure I want to try it out just yet. Seems like it would require a bit of trial and error to figure out how much is needed to create the desired effect.

Looks like 5-15% is oil. Not quite the return I was hoping for.
