Hey guys, I am working on a red rye ipa recipe and I just wanted to get your opinions on how tasty it sounds.

7# 2 row
1# crystal 60
2# rye
1# flaked rye
12 oz melanoidin
3 oz carafa II
1 oz warrior at 60
.5 oz amatillo at 15
.5 oz amarillo at 5

Any thoughts?

Im guessing 5 gallons? I would add much more hops if you want an IPA. As it stands, I dont really feel like thats even a hoppy pale ale. Increase your late additions by a large margin and check out hopstand/whirpool additions in case you arent familiar with them

Lots of good tips on the techniques of designing great IPAs with commercial quality hop character here:

Yeah, you're right. I was focusing on the ibus when posting this, forgot to finish the hop schedule. I'm mainly worried about the color. Hoping this will produce a nice red.

I would add in 2-4 oz of a dark roasted grain to get a nice red. Either roasted barley, midnight wheat, debittered black...

I love the flavor rye imparts In beer and use it in a lot of styles. For this try to keep in the rye theme and try some Chocolate Rye for color and more depth of rye flavor.
