hey all
I'm trying a few test batches to try out some new recipes, 1 gal jugs filled 3/4 of the way full. Here's a quick rundown:
Batch # 44 The Little Amarillo Pale Ale That Could
Yield: .75 gal
Ingredients: 1 lb light DME, .75 oz Amarillo, Nottingham yeast.
9/21/07 Brought a little more than 1 gal of carbon filtered water to a boil and added .5 oz of Amarillo @ 60 min. Added .25 oz Amarillo @ 30 min. Added DME @ 15 min. Cooled and pitched started half a packet of Nottingham yeast. OG 1.05 @ ~ 80 degrees
9/23/07 Fermentation is almost ceased, created good krauzen. SG 1.012.
My question is, do you guys think it is normal for a small batch beer to be done this soon? Will this mean it will age quicker too?
