My first extract; honey wheat. I pitched the yeast late Friday night following the directions carefully and woke up Saturday morning to find slow bubbling to fast bubbling through Sunday afternoon. It is now Sunday night and the bubbling seems to have stopped completely, like a light switch. The temperature has been fluctuating between 68 and 70 degrees. Is this normal? Has the fermentation process completed this quickly?

I have had beers ferment completely without seeing a single bubble. If I were you I would not worry, and in a few days take your hydrometer readings. The hydrometer tells all.

new plugs are hard and don't always keep the seal. reseat the plug carefully and see if the bubbling starts.

as the plug for the airlock gets older it softens and seems to seal better. just a thought.
