I didnt have the ice cubes sitting out. Had to run and get a handful. Batch boiled over only a little bit. Like maybe two cups worth of foam on the stove top.

Will that affect the batch?

The target OG is 1.052 - 1.056 and my batch came in at 1.056. It's an Oktoberfest kit.

You'll be fine. I would worry more about cleaning your stovetop.

Best thing for boilover is fermcap and second best is a spray bottle of water.

If you have not had multiple boil overs you have not brewed beer - you have now had the total experience!

I just Filled my primary with my first batch, and just like everyone said, I had a boilover. I reacted fast enough to drop the propane level low enough to keep the boil rolling, but still control the level. I lost about 2 cups. Even when you read as much on here as you can, AND wait 2 weeks to brew your first... Stuff is gonna happen lol.
Like forgetting to add Irish moss, or forgetting to have the exit end of your chiller tube in the sink... Yeah... D'oh!
