im new to home brewing in general. my first brew will be at 7 days tomorrow. from what ive seen on here i guess you can keg your own beer, i know very little about it.

i have a keg avaliable. what else do you need? can someone explain the basic jist of it? like great detail is not needed just that basically goes on...

I'm not going to be a jerk and tell you to use the fine search tool that the forum provides, but most would. ;)

This thread is a great FAQ for kegging.

Usually homebrewers use 5 gallon kegs that were once used for holding soda syrup by Coke/Pepsi. Outlay for a simply, one keg system would be CO2 tank and regulator, gas line, keg tap of some kind, beer line and a party tapper connected to the end of the beer line.

Sanitation and cleanliness are still very important and some people think that the keg is a bit of a pain to clean, but you only clean one keg for a 5 gallon batch, and not 50+ bottles.

Everything you need. Other websites have kits as well. This just an example that shows all parts needed. This is using a ball lock Cornie Keg. You can sometimes find Cornie kegs with the standard sanke couplers (think about kegs you see at parties) and you would need a sanke tap instead of the ball lock posts. Other equipment would be the same.
