i plan on brewing denny's Wry Smile Rye IPA in the next couple weeks, and i will be trying out his yeast. instead of making a huge starter, i was thinking of brewing a spotted cowish cream ale with the 1450, then using the cake in the rye ipa. anyone had any luck with this yeast in other brews?

Ive got an amber ale (all grain kit from northern brewer) that is using it now. I plan on making a black IPA this weekend and using the yeast cake from the amber. Im shooting for an OG of around 1.09 for the IPA so I figured using the yeast cake would be easier than making a big starter. Ill let you know how it works out.

It will work. BUT- it takes forever to clear so you may end up with a cloudy cream ale. For a cream ale, I prefer a much more highly flocculant yeast.

hmm, about how long yoop? any comment on flavor vs say, us05, 1056, etc?

Planning on brewing this one today, anyone else have any input?
