I was planning on making an IPA OG 1.068 and wanted to use some washed WLP001 yeast. I always make a 1L starter on a stir plate with vials of 1.040 wort, but I was thinking it might be different with washed yeast.

My reasons/choices are:

1. Maybe I should use two of my pints of washed yeast to pitch in starter?
2. Pitch 2 of the pints of washed yeast because it is such a high gravity beer?
3. Step up my starter to 2L.

In my little bit of yeast washing experience..(3-4 times revived)
I'd just put a washed sample into a half liter of1.040 and step up to 1 liter after 24 hours... It'll make the yeasties real happy !
Make sure to decant most of the liquid off the top and just pitch the good stuff :)

I recently used washed yeast for the first time and like joeybeer I made a small starter and then stepped it up to 1 liter, cold crashed the starter for 24 hours and then decanted most of the top liquid before adding the rest to the fermenter. 6 hours later primary was bubbling like mad.
