0.25 tsp Irish Moss (Boil 10.0 min)

1.00 cup Malto-Dextrine (Boil 20.0 min)
4.00 oz Lactose (Boil 15.0 min)

1 Pkgs London Ale (Wyeast Labs #1028)

Grains are crushed, strike water is heating up. Forgot to remove grains from fridge, they are kinda cool, so strike water up to 185.

mash temp came in at 159, was shooting for 158. By the time i mix in the salts should be perfect. ;)

finally had my snafu of the day. Forgot to add my 1lb of flaked oats at the beginning of the mash. Didnt remember until 30 mins into the mash, but ended up mashing an extra 20 mins because my sparge water cooled off too much. Guess it will all work out in the end, even though the oats ended up mashing at 170ish instead of 158. The joys of being flexible eh?

I added 4g of CaCO3, 1g CaCl2, and 4g Baking soda. I'll add another 3g baking soda to the boil. This is based off my water profile here at home, your will vary.

pre-boil gravity should have been 054, got 13brix, 053 not too shabby. boil vol was a little high so i'll be letting this go 90 mins

Final #'s Est OG was 1.070, actual was 1.079. Final gravity came in at 1.024. 91% actual mash system eff. ABV ended up at 7.36%

Taste test was pretty good, heavy mouthfeel, slight roasted, maybe just a hint of a burnt note present. I think that will mellow out while she ages. It really didn't have a lingering bitter aftertaste. SHMBO tried it (she's a fizzy yellow beer gal), big smile came across her face, that said it all.
