I've used worm clamps on silicone tubing, you just can't over tighten otherwise they'll dig into the tubing.

fyi.. I picked up a 10 pack of those today at Lowes for $4.00 in the plumbing section.
 
I believe you're *supposed* to use those white plastic clamps.. like these:

it's easier just to use the worm clamps in my opinion though.

Too bad they don't sell them by themselves.
I use standard worm clamps on my beer and gas lines. Just don't clamp to the point of cutting into the tube. Another good tip is to use 3/16 ID hose with 1/4" barbs. Practically eliminates the need for clamps.
 
He asked about 1/2" tubing.
for 1/2" silicon tubing, I would use these:Austin Homebrew Supply
For the vinyl, which is much stiffer tubing, I get stainless worm drive hose clamps at Home Depot. They are wide and have a nice grip.
