I'm getting ready to brew my first batch of beer (Pale Ale) and wondered if there was a certain type of water to use. I was planning to use water from an Artisian Spring in our community. I know others who buy bottled water at the store. Any advice on what might be best?

Unless you are doing certain very light all grain styles, if the water tastes ok, it is ok. Huge amounts of carbonate, sulfur, benzene, etc. are bad news. My community water is from Artisian wells and works great.

For future reference, you might go to the office and get a copy of the annual water analysis. The one my company sends out only lists the bad stuff (which are all 0.000 ppm). They have a total analysis on file.
