Some water profile adjustments call for additions of Chalk (CaCo3). Is this regular chalk like blackboard chalk? If not, where do you get this?
Where does everyone buy their other brewing salts?

Blackboard chalk is usually made of gypsum. I buy salts at the LHBS.

Does your water need additional carbonate?

You might be able to find it as a calcium supplement at the pharmacy but it is almost guaranteed to not be 100% CaCO3. Your best bet is to get some that is made for brewing.

Why am i having a hard time finding CACO3 in LHBS? Is it labeled as something else and I'm not realizing this? Or do people generally not use it at all? I can find CACL and MGSO, but not CACO3....

thanks

Brewmasters Warehouse has it. It's a common addition. Cheap too. Just search chalk or CaCO3.

Thanks, i'll look there. none of my local places have it which was confounding to me! especially considering our local water profile.

Any suggestions on a European source of chalk? Or, any non-brewing kind of store that would carry it?

Thanks,
Mat
